Charisma2 front Charisma 2 Review @ Release Time.de

Here is the second review of 2011 that hadn’t made it to our blog yet. ReleaseTime.de decided to put our two-channel tube processor to the test last August. Editor Holger Obst calls the Charisma 2 a “real analog sound refiner,” based on a very comprehensive review of the unit with multiple sound samples. Among his statements are the following:

“The SPL Charisma 2 Model 9733 is very flexible and delivers a very convincing tube and tape saturation effect. It opens up the stereo panorama and makes everything sound warmer, full of harmonics and powerful.”

co 5 smal Channel One Review @ Release Time.de

We would like to bring your attention to a couple of reviews from 2011 that hadn’t made it to our blog yet. First we have a review from our Channel One MKII 2950 published at ReleaseTime.de. Editor Holger Obst decided to carry out a thorough inspection of our hardware channel strip and write a comprehensive review, including many sound examples:

“The Channel One does a very elegant and respectful job regarding the sound of the original unit. The FET Distortion confers more power to dull vocals without distorting or coloring them, and if you really want to get down to business you have to try it on guitars.”

DynaMaxx front DynaMaxx Review @ Release Time.deLast December Holger Obst from German music production website ReleaseTime.de put our DynaMaxx to the test. We decided to post here a couple of abstracts from the very comprehensive review of our two-channel hardware compressor, which — as it is always the case by ReleaseTime.de — includes plenty of sound samples.

“The SPL DynaMaxx Model 9735 is exceptionally built, rugged enough even for live applications and its audio quality is outstanding. [...] Thanks to the Double VCA Drive, not even when pushed to the limits does it distort. Thus, it sounds very clean and with a superb definition — top analog quality, which is still quite far from what digital compressors can provide.”

Do you want to know how our one-channel microphone and instrument preaamp performed?

Holger Obst from ReleaseTime.de has tested quite some SPL products in the past and is well-known for always delivering very detailed reviews. This time he decided to dig into the depths of our Track One… Here are some of his thoughts:

Track One 2960 front New Track One Review @ Release Time.de

“The Track One —the smallest of SPL’s three channel strips— makes a good impression and also benefits from the same technology as its more expensive counterparts. It provides an exceptional sound quality, sounds strikingly musical and is remarkably well-built, which makes it perfectly apt for many years of hard work live.”

Holger Obst reviewed the SPL Kultube for German music production website ReleaseTime.de. He took the time to put to the test all its functions and included a good number of sound samples in the review. The results of this exhaustive test couldn’t be clearer:

SPL Kultube New Kultube Review in Release Time

“Considering its solid construction and ease of use, the Kultube offers an outstanding audio quality. [...] When it comes to sound fidelity and resolution the Kultube easily outmatches any plug-in; and if you add the adjustable tube saturation, it is unbeatable. You simply cannot get an emulation that sounds this good.”
