Some days ago, we received a very kind message from electronic music composer Hideyuki Ashizawa, owner of def house studio in Yokohama, Japan. Mr. Ashizawa released his latest album, “Sine Wave Avenue,” on iTunes on January 16, 2012, and it instantly peaked at number two on the domestic electro charts!
In order to achieve the highest audio quality possible, he used our dual channel 3-band parametric EQ “Qure” in the mastering process… here are some of his comments:
“I’ve been using SPL Qure for five years now, mostly for mastering. Once the signal goes into the Qure, the sound is much more clearly defined. The EQ is so musical and intuitive that it’s very easy to get the sound you want. Both high and low pass filters are purely analog and thus provide more natural-sounding results, which is hard to achieve with plug-ins.”
“I don’t use the Qure function during mastering, but I do use it while mixing and I really like it. It’s very useful especially when the material is muddy but also to improve the stereo image. The Qure works great with soft synths too and it can give you a surround sound feel that not even enhancers can match
“The best thing about the Qure is how naturally it widens the frequency range, whereby the tubes certainly play an important role — it’s just unbelievable. The sound image virtually appears right in front of you just by boosting the highs 0.5db. Working the lows and mids is also pretty effective and intuitive. The SPL Qure is simply perfect for dance music!”
